Goals

The current project aims to achieve a number of outcomes by the end of the program once all the activities have been carried out:

1. English language teachers and teacher candidates, particularly those in the eastern and southeastern regions, will have opportunities to develop themselves for professional purposes. The relative situation of being disadvantageous with respect to access to professional resources will have been lessened to some extent.

2. Pre- and in-service teachers of English will familiarize themselves with the recent developments and trends in the field of English language teaching and have a heightened awareness towards areas such as English as a lingua franca and efficient integration of digital technologies.

3. A digital educational network will be formed for EFL professionals for the purpose of the continuance of professional development activities. The network will consist of EFL teachers, teacher candidates, and EFL experts, particularly those in the region.

4. Pre- and in-service teachers of English will have met various EFL experts and faculty including scholars around the world and Turkey as well as US Embassy’s English Language Specialists. This will have allowed them to expand their professional networks and create a new avenue for them to channel their interests and find opportunities to collaborate with EFL faculty.

5. A set of digital materials will have been developed for pedagogical development purposes. These materials will consist of webinar recordings of the professionals and will have been uploaded to YouTube for anyone to access following each event.
