COACHES

BE PRESENT | BE TEAM | Enjoy the Wake

Head Coach Jocelyn Sowa is so excited to be back with our VIPERFISH! She brings a lot of excitement, passion, and energy this season. Team spirit, good sportsmanship, and a positive attitude are essential elements to a successful season. She hopes that each Viperfish can swim with these standards in mind.
Coach Jocelyn began competitive swimming when she joined a Maryland Summer swim team at five years old. After joining a Winter swim league, she began competing year-round at age six. She continued year-round competitive swimming in Maryland, Ohio, and Delaware until she was sidelined by a shoulder injury during her high school years. The injury didn’t stop Jocelyn from competing; she continued her involvement in summer competition until she aged out at age 18.
Coach Jocelyn holds a Bachelors and Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Delaware and Towson University. Over the past year, Jocelyn has completed her career switcher and is now a license teacher in both K-12 Health and Physical Education and K-12 Art. Coach Jocelyn led the Broad Run Spartans Ladies to first place overall in both the 4C Dulles District and the 4C Regional Meet. The Lady Spartans finished fourth overall in the VA States meet without having points from diving and just 6 ladies. She is excited to share new and creative ideas to help our team stay connected during an interesting period in time. This summer Jocelyn will finish her National Association Sport Medicine, Certified Personal Trainer.
