A column of soil about 90cm long is collected at the site, which is later used to produce the soil monolith in the laboratory. The resin was poured to fill in the void in between grains to fix the column of soil in a permanent position. Generating a soil monolith is essential in soil study and classification as soil structure provides important information about the development and maturity of soil.
Master horizons are identified based on the description of the horizons (Dale, 2018 and Pennock, 2015). Wet and dry soil colours were determined using a Munsell colour chart.
