I have always had a passion for vintage cameras and that has led to antique photography. This page will showcase some of my favorites.
A picture is worth a thousand words. I am not going to write that long a description, not needed. This portrait says it all.
Circa 1910, the Edwardian era. The photographer poses this young woman in classical art position, adds soft focus, soft lighting. This could easily be a stand-alone 16 x 20 framed portrait hanging proudly on the wall.
With the embossed presentation folder, obviously a gift to someone special, a simple message done in her elegant handwriting,
With Love Evelyn A special moment witnessed of over a 100 years ago.
My collection of antique photos continues to grow on Virtual Antique Marketplace, and here are some examples. Pair of siblings holding hands, a Victorian woman, a Victorian gentleman, and from 1920s, a married couple
Not only are these photos works of art, but they show us fashion styles of history.
The woman in lower collar, which is a change as at one time Victorian woman were wearing higher collars.
The man shown as clean shaven. In earlier Victorian times, men had prominent beards and mustaches, but in later years they were going to clean shaving.
The last photo shows a newlywed couple, married around 1929, right around the start of the depression. Here the her arms are bare, and and neckline lower. By time of Roaring 20s, Victorian and Edwardian dress styles were gone.
This is an antique Kodak Autographic 3A from around 1914. If features a red leather bellows and slides on a mahogany rail.
In 1920 to save on costs Kodak stopped making them this way, which is sad as this camera looks good enough to be a home decor piece as a stand-alone or bookend.
