                                   WHAT STARTED MY VINTGAGE JOURNEY-CAMERAS OF ALL SIZES AND TYPES

My passion for cameras began the moment a Canon F1 was placed in my hands. What a revelation compared to the Instamatics I’d grown up with! That spark led to college studies filled with darkroom work, and eventually to managing the Camera Department at a major department store.

Years later—and thousands of dollars deeper into the craft—my interest has evolved into a curated obsession with all things photographic. From Victorian cabinet cards to antique magazines, vintage postcards (still hunting for those elusive Halloween ones!), and early prints, I want it all.

If it’s a camera, or an image a camera took, it belongs with me.

     Helsingborg Sweden Views From Circa 1895-1905 

Take a step back in time with your eyes  to see what these photographers viewed over a century ago

Helsingborg is a major coastal city in southern Sweden, directly across from Denmark.   The harbor and beacon still exist today, but obviously with a modern look

The light house remains in the second group, but the bridge has been removed.

In the 3rd group, Kullagatan Street is now a pedestrian street with numerous shops, and Hotel Möller remains with the same 

architectural style from 1300!   Now is Elite Hotel Mollberg.

In the last group shows Grand Urban Street Scene and  Kärnan Tower, both still remain today.

The photographers were Fr. E. Arvidsson.photographer, Fr. E. Strandman C. A. Sundholm all 3 had businesses on Kullagatan St

and these cards could have been purchased there, in a nearby shop, or at a hotel

They’re not just pictures — they’re a mini‑archive of a city in transition:

• medieval heritage (Kärnan)

• late‑19th‑century architectural pride

• early‑20th‑century modernization

• maritime and industrial identity

• civic life before automobiles

Together, they form a cohesive, atmospheric portrait of Helsingborg at its most photogenic moment.

Argus C3 " The Brick" Vintage Rangefinder Camera Longest Running Production Camera

This camera was produced from 1939 to 1966, a 27 year production run!  This is the longest run in production for any camera of its kind.

Nick named the " Brick " for it's shape similar to that, and almost feels like one to when lift it.

Used no batteries, the flash units contained batteries that fired it from the camera's shutter completing a circuit.

I have one listed on Etsy that is as close to one found in a store as can get.  The camera body looks like never used, and the case has no signs of leather wear, no dryness,no cracks, no splits in stitching.  Even the inside lining is free of any deterioration.

Adding this to your collection will be like adding a piece of camera history.  At the time most cameras were German and expensive to get.  The Argus C3 was American made and affordable.  It's shape made this a durable, long lasting camera.  There were no batteries to replace or corrode, no electronics of any type.  100% mechanical operation.

There is no doubt this is a  timeless workhorse from the golden age of American photography.
