Music scholar and film expert Rajesh Subramanian opines that the song "Aajkal Tere Mere Pyar Ke Charche" was a rejected tune, which a depressed Jaikishan played to Shammi Kapoor at Hotel Gaylord. Kapoor found the tune very catchy and suggested to director Bhappi Sonie to include the song in Brahmachari. The song became one of the highlights of the film. Also the song "Aajkal Tere Mere Pyaar Ke Charche", is usually thought to be sung by Lata Mangeshkar, but it was in fact sung by Suman Kalyanpur. (The confusion results from the fact that the quality of Suman Kalyanpur's voice is similar to Lata Mangeshkar's at times).

For almost seven to eight years after this episode, Khayyam did not work with Abba. Even after he started getting films regularly, he still did not use Rafi Saheb. Notwithstanding their long estrangement, Abba was quite happy to work with him in later years, as if nothing had ever transpired between them and went on to give voice to some of Khayyam's finest compositions in later years.

Kalyanji-Anandji and Rafi Saheb worked together for almost two decades. For their first film, the song Lakdi Jal Koyla Bhayi, Koyla Jal Bhayo Raakh from Bedard Zamaana Kya Jaane (1959) was sung by Rafi Saheb.

Rafi Saheb performed for the first time in 1961 under Laxmikant-Pyarelal's music direction with the ghazal Tere Pyaar Ne Mujhe Gham Diya, Tere Gham Ki Mmar Daraaz Ho (Chaila Babu). This was also Laxmikant-Pyarelal's first film, although it was released much later.

After the recording was completed, the filmmaker very sheepishly offered Abba one thousand rupees. Abba took the money without demur, only to immediately hand it over to Laxmikant-Pyarelal saying, 'Go buy yourself some sweets, the two of you. This is a reward for your lovely composition.'

Laxmikant-Pyarelal's first film was Parasmani, in which all the songs sung by Rafi Saheb became hugely successful. 'Roshan Tumhi Se Duniya, Raunak Ho Tum Jahan Ki in particular became a great hit with the fans. That is how Laxmikant-Pyarelal's musical journey began with Rafi Saheb, and their association lasted over two decades.

Notably, even though La La Land is set in the 21st century, in a world of intrusive cellphones and electronic car keys, the musical numbers, many of which could easily be from 1950s or 1960s films, are played straight. There are tiny nudge-wink moments: For instance, when Mia sardonically sings maybe this appeals/to someone not in heels during a nighttime stroll and then sits down to put on shoes more suited to dancing, I was reminded of the famous, uncredited observation that Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did in their dances together, except that she did it in high heels. But the overall tone is affectionate and unironic.

Veteran music director Ravindra Jain, the genius who overcame his blindness to render soulful tunes in several films, including Chitchor and Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se , died on Friday of multiple organ failure.

Later, he went on to compose music for hit films such as Chor Machaye Shor , Geet Gaata Chal , Chitchor and Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se , Nadiya ke Paar and Vivah .

Printed and circulated during a subsequent release run of the film in Kolkata (somewhere in the 1980s), this old handmade Bollywood poster was originally designed for publicity of the film but never ended up being used.
