Underfloor heating mats provide comfortable and energy-efficient ways to insulate your house floors, as the heat is evenly distributed across the floor. These mats can reduce energy costs because they require less energy to operate than the traditional heating system.
Underfloor heating mats are thin and flexible mats designed to be installed at the floor covering, to provide sufficient heat for the people living in the house. The mats consist of many heating cables at the back, they are evenly spaced across the mat and are made from durable material such as carbon fiber. As floor heating mats are mostly electric and controlled by a thermostat you can easily control the temperature to your desired levels. These floorings are ideally used with stone or tile flooring.
These are do’s and don’ts that need to be followed while installing the heating mats:-
Always follow the manufacturer's installation instructions carefully
Use the right adhesive to secure the heating mat to the subfloor.
Before installation, check whether the subfloor is clean, dry, and free from any bumps or debris.
Check your floor’s compatibility before installing the mats.
Test the heating system for continuity and resistance before covering the final flooring.
Don’t Install mats under any fixed objects like bathtubs or cabinets, as it can create obstruction in the cable and cause damage.
Installing an electric underfloor heating mat directly under heavy appliances can cause the cable to break due to pressure and weight.
Do not walk or stand on the heating mat while installing, this can cause damage and create uneven heating.
Be careful not to place temperature sensors near water pipes or large elevations.
