PET is a program from brazilian Ministery of Education (MEC), the abbreviation is for Programa de Educação Tutorial, which means Educational Tutorial Program. The objective is to stimulate projects in research, teaching and extension. In the Institute of Physics of University of Brasília (IF - UnB), PET Physics (@fisicapet on Instagram) promotes outreach events for academic and high school communities. And also the development of a pre-calculus teaching class for freshmen in physics. Beyond that, the members have the opportunity to develop softskills like teamwork and leadership.
Myself, I was member for five years, from november 2019 to february 2025. In that time I took the opportunity to organize academic events like JoCAF and many editions of Semana da Física. And I have also colabotered in organization for events for scientific divulgation for high school, like Jornada de Ciências and Workshop de Física Experimental.
Semana da Física, or Physics Week, is an annual event organised by PET Física at UnB, for 20 years. The event promotes a series of seminaries, shotcourses and workshops in the most diverse themes, such as astrophysics, applied physics, particle physics, theoretical and mathematical physics, physics teaching and medical physics. Bringing the bests national names of physics to give a presential lecture in our auditorium. The purpose is to show not just for physics students but also for STEM, the main topics studied. Giving the opportunity to connect with scientists and to know the latests research areas.
The JoCAF was a special edition, that happened in 2023, a celebration of the 50 years of the physics course at UnB. In these one specifically, I was one of chairs of the organizer comitte and also took great part in media design of the event. You may check event's website https://www.pet.if.unb.br/jocaf .
Jornada de Ciências, or Journey of Sciences, is an event promoted for high school students of public schools in our state, Distrito Federal. The objective is to show the three main sciences, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, through fun workshops and hands-on activities like bottle rocket launch, pH experiments and observation in microscope. The organization is co-divide between PET Physics, PET Chemistry and PET Biology. Beyond that, we make a tour into principals locals of the university, to encourage them to persue an academic course.
In 2023 and 2024, I was able to colaborate in the organization and the media design for the events.

Experimental Physics Workshop, is an event promoted for high school students, interested in pursuing a career in STEM. We give them the opportunity to make a physics experiment from zero to simple data analysis, passing by basic elements of experimental physics. Also, we offer this workshop for freshmen in physics and engineering who strugles in lab courses. In that case, we give a shortcourse through one lab experiment (finding gravity by a pendulum) in how to make a good graph, write a lab report and deal with erros.
In both editions, 2022 and 2023, I was member of the organizer team.

In february 2025, I was selected over hundreds of inscriptions to participate at 8° Advanced School on Experimental Physics (Eafexp 2025). I took two weeks course, over 80 hours, where I and others five participants, developed a project, at CBPF (Brazilian Center of Physics Research), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We did a eco-friendly synthesis of cobalt ferrites and characterized by commons methods like XRD, VSM and SEM. In addition, we learned theory and practices on Mössbauer spectroscopy. At the end, we did an oral presentation in portuguese (Youtube 02:53) and a report.
