About me
Since January 2024, I have been a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden, Germany, within the Algebraic Systems Biology group of Heather A. Harrington.
In December 2023 I was awarded my Ph.D. in Mathematics - with label of "Doctor Europaeus" - from the University of Trento, Italy, under the supervision of Alessandra Bernardi and Giorgio Maria Ottaviani.
Research
My research activity is in algebraic geometry (AG) and representation theory, with a focus on problems motivated by tensor decomposition. In particular, I study the geometry of projective varieties of tensors enriched by group actions, e.g. (secant varieties of) rational homogeneous varieties.
I enjoy working on problems in applied algebraic geometry (AAG) as well. Recently I have been studying relations with (multi)persistence homology and topological data analysis, with applications to biological datasets. I am also interested in algebraic varieties arising from quantum information, quantum chemistry and machine learning.
Some keywords of my current interests are:
(AG) secant varieties, singular locus, identifiability, Terracini locus, Scorza varieties, generalised Grassmannians, Schubert varieties, C*-actions, toric varieties, intersection theory;
(AAG) signature tensors, barcodes, persistence landscapes, multipersistence modules, truncation varieties, coupled cluster degree, euclidean distance degree, polynomial neural networks.
