About me
Since January 2024 I have been a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden, Germany, within the Algebraic Systems Biology group of Heather A. Harrington.
In December 2023 I was awarded my Ph.D. in Mathematics, with label of "Doctor Europaeus", from the University of Trento, Italy, under the supervision of Alessandra Bernardi and Giorgio Maria Ottaviani.
Research
My research activity is in algebraic geometry (AG), often at the edge of representation theory. I am particularly interested in problems related to tensors in a broad sense, from secant varieties and Hilbert schemes of points to algebraic varieties enriched with group actions (e.g. rational homogeneous varieties).
I enjoy working on problems in applied algebraic geometry (AAG) as well. I am interested in algebraic varieties arising from quantum sciences (information, physics, chemistry) and machine learning. Recently I have been studying relations with (multi)persistence homology and topological data analysis.
Some keywords of my current interests are:
(AG) secant varieties, singular locus, identifiability, Terracini locus, varieties of minimal degree, varieties cut out by quadrics, rational homogeneous varieties, Schubert varieties, C*-actions, toric varieties, intersection theory, Newton polytopes;
(AAG) signature tensors, (multi)persistence modules, truncation varieties and coupled cluster degree, euclidean distance degree, polynomial neural networks.
