About me 

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Section of Mathematics of the Max Planck Institute CBG in Dresden, within Heather A. Harrington's group. 

Education: I was awarded my Ph.D. in Mathematics, with label of "Doctor Europaeus", from the University of Trento, under the supervision of Alessandra Bernardi and Giorgio Maria Ottaviani. Prior to that, I got my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University of Pisa.

Memberships: I am member of the Italian INdAM group GNSAGA and of the "Associazione Culturale Enrigo Enriques".

I firmly believe in the value of mathematical community, to be inclusive, collaborative and to stand up for democracy, equality and freedom. 

My Research

My research is interdisciplinary, at the intersection of Algebraic Geometry and Representation Theory with a view towards applications to other Life Sciences. Tensors are a common denominator of my activity.

My fundamental research focuses on symmetries (e.g. invariants, tensor rank) and geometry (e.g. singularity, normality, identifiability) of algebraic varieties related to tensors. These include secant varieties, Hilbert schemes of points, (pre)homogeneous spaces and compactifications of matrix spaces.

I am also interested to more application-driven problems, with a focus on algebraic varieties and symmetries arising in quantum life sciences (e.g quantum states in Quantum Information, excited states in Quantum Physics/Chemistry). Recently,  I have been getting interested into interactions between Algebraic Geometry and MultiPersistent Homology (MPH), specifically on how to deduce persistence invariants from algebraic varieties. 

Since my time at MPI-CBG, I have also been getting hand on analysing real data, specifically via tensor decomposition methods or a combination of signatures-ML methods.
