About me
Since January 2024 I have been a postdoctoral researcher at the Section of Mathematics of the Max Planck Institute CBG in Dresden, Germany, within Heather A. Harrington's group.
In December 2023 I was awarded a Ph.D. in Mathematics, with label of "Doctor Europaeus", from the University of Trento, Italy, under the supervision of Alessandra Bernardi and Giorgio Maria Ottaviani.
Research
My research is interdisciplinary, at both "intra-math" and "math-life sciences" levels. The common denominator is at the intersection of Algebraic Geometry and Representation Theory, as I am interested in symmetries and geometric properties of the objects I study. The fil rouge of my work are tensors.
In Algebraic Geometry, I work on problems involving secant varieties (singularities, normality, identifiability) and Hilbert schemes of points of rational homogeneous varieties, prehomogeneous spaces (e.g. toric varieties, Schubert varieties) and vector bundles.
Since my postdoc at MPI-CBG I have also been studying interactions between Algebraic Geometry and MultiPersistent Homology (MPH), in particular how to get persistence invariants from certain algebraic varieties.
At the "math-life sciences" level, I am interested in modeling and studying symmetries in (quantum) life sciences, e.g. quantum states in Quantum Information, electrons and excited states in Quantum Physics and Chemistry. I have also been working with real data, analysing them via methods from tensor decomposition or Toplogical Data Analysis.
