My research lies in health economics and public economics and examines how socioeconomic and spatial factors shape health, healthcare use, and related economic outcomes. I rely on administrative and survey data and apply applied microeconometric and quasi-experimental methods to generate policy-relevant evidence on issues such as health inequalities, risky behaviours, and the evaluation of policies affecting individual well-being
Research Areas
Health and income inequalities
This line of research investigates socioeconomic inequalities in health outcomes and health behaviours. I study how income, education, and institutional settings shape disparities in health, access to health care, and preventive behaviours across population groups and over the life course.
Risky behaviours, prevention, and health policies
I examine individual responses to health information, warnings, and prevention policies, including vaccination campaigns, cancer screening programmes, and behavioural interventions. This research evaluates both intended and unintended effects of public policies on health behaviours.
Labor markets, productivity, and health
A related strand of my research studies the interaction between labor market conditions and health outcomes. I analyze how employment shocks, workplace conditions, and job-related risks affect health, productivity, and economic behaviour.
Policy evaluation and applied econometrics
I conduct causal evaluations of health, labor, and regional policies using quasi-experimental methods. My work employs administrative data and research designs such as difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, and regression discontinuity to assess policy effectiveness and distributional impacts.
