Hi, my name is Vince Noska, and this is my portfolio. The essays that I have been writing for the past 4 months have been about numerous topics. Our heroes, our selfies and portraits, places of mind, empathy, and even hate. Collectively however, this entire portfolio will show you who I am as a person. I was once asked, at the beginning of the year, "who are you"? I didn't really know how to answer the question of "who am I. I didn't understand why we were so focused on who we were at the beginning of the year. I now realize that this portfolio was asking that exact question, who am I? This portfolio will show my audience who I am. The essays that we as a class have been working on all semester have slowly been asking us more about ourselves and who we are. Now that the final project is complete we have something that shows who we are. We have accomplished this in various unique ways. We filmed to show how we have empathy for those who we felt needed it, we took pictures to describe different sides of ourselves. We explored different media platforms. All together I show my narrative portfolio to describe who I am. I enjoyed the exploration of media that was used for this class. I would rather comment and proofread my classmates papers online so they can see it faster and it wont get lost. Using this method of diversifying our platforms of media really made the class more interesting and more organized.
My portfolio has a very unique story/essay makeup to the structure. Lots of the papers that I have written have been stories. The stranger in me shows the story of who I am in public and when I am by myself. The Hate essay is a story about Johnathan and how he grows up in a hateful home in the WBC. Place Of Mind is another example of how I explain the story of my seasonal job in the essay. Lots of my papers have been about telling a personal or fictional story. I really did enjoy storytelling in the essays that we had to write. It made me feel like I was in a creative writing class and also a way to improve my writing skills.
There are three strengths that my audience will see throughout this portfolio. The first strength is the effort and amount of research put into these essays will be noticed. In each of the essays I have written, I made sure that I did the necessary research to make my claims factual. We had a lot of research to do for the final project on empathy. My groups topic was on the disabled, which required a lot of research to describe this topic. My group made spent one day finding the best source we could find about the mentality of being disabled and we all put in our best sources. We read each others sources to expand our knowledge on the subject. Another strength that will be noticeable will be the organization and completeness of my essays. Each paper that I have written I made sure they were organized and well structured. I have revised all of my work and made important changes so my audience can understand and enjoy my work. The third strength in my portfolio is the honesty that went into these essays and stories. I have made sure that each one of the essays answers the question of who I am and I try to get as deep as I can when it came to writing these papers.
