Demand planning and product forecasting is extremely important for any business. This example looks at a case study of an organization that sells products and has gathered historical product demand data over a period of 5 years between 2012 - 2016. Each product has a product code, is broken into a product category, and derives from 1 of 4 warehouses.
The dashboard answers the following questions:
What has the overall product demand in the sample period, broken out by year?
Which months of the year do we see the highest demand for products?
Which product category has received the highest demand?
What was the highest demanded product category?
Which products from this category saw the highest demand?
Were there any patterns of product demand by month from this group?
What does the warehouse distribution look like?
Which warehouse stores the highest demanded products?
These are just a few of the questions this dashboard can answer. We can get a pretty good idea of this organization's product demand based off of their historical data. The next steps from here would be to continue to further refine and think about how this information can help the organization plan for the future.

KPI (key performance indicator) Analysis
Being able to find solutions using data is key for success in operations. Business intel tools like Power BI and Tableau allow us to take large data sets, organize them, and create powerful visualizations that help tell stories and lets us make better, more informed, decision making. Visit my workbook on Tableau Public to view a dashboard I created to do some basic analysis of the AirBnb market in Seattle, WA.
Business Challenge:
a customer wants to understand the AirBnb landscape in Seattle, WA to understand what type of property they should be interested in
Business Solution
I've analyzed AirBnb data to help answer the customer's interests
This dashboard answers the questions of:
What Zipcodes are most popular and profitable for AirBnb properties
What times of the year are most popular for AirBnb Rentals based on revenue
What does the competition looks like, specifically related to number of bedrooms by AirBnb Rental

operationalize and organize processes
In the years that I lead an Operations team, I honed my spreadsheet and critical thinking skills. Having technical skills to conduct data analysis is crucial to business success. Being able to draw insightful conclusions and keeping your team organized is a non-negotiable.
This provided link takes you to a Google Sheet I created for my wife at her job as an academic advisor at UC San Diego.
The Business Problem:
each student has a unique academic history and path to getting their degree
there are ways to track a student's progress towards degree completion but not in a auto-updating and dynamic way (especially related to specific major upper division requirements)
if there was a tool advisors could use to track a student's progress AND allows advisors to experiment and plan a student's class roadmap, they could provide even more support to help the students achieve their goals
My Solution:
I created a comprehensive dashboard that allows advisors to enter a student's class schedule (both planned and upcoming quarters)
the dashboard give them a auto-updating view on the student's progress towards reaching the degree requirements AND allows them to plan out classes well in the future
The goal of this case study was to analyze MLB statistical data from the 2022 season and use it to predict team success in the future. By analyzing young MLB player KPIs, we can forecast which teams will be successful in the coming years which could help drive MLB marketing efforts.
