My Bio

I now focus mostly on education, from the struggle to improve public schools to the rise of research misconduct at prominent universities. My long-form features, crafted with extensive reporting and compelling personal anecdotes, have appeared in Bloomberg, where I worked for 16 years, the San Francisco Standard, MindSite News, Real Clear Investigations, San Jose Mercury News and many other publications. I began my career in San Francisco and covered the rise of the internet economy in the 1990s. I now live in New York's Hudson Valley with my wife and son.
