Vina Nguyen is a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund, specializing in macro‑financial analysis and monetary and macroprudential policies. She has led and contributed to policy and technical assistance missions across advanced and emerging economies, covering systemic risk monitoring, financial sector assessments, inflation dynamics, monetary policy transmission, fiscal policy, and other structural issues.
Most recently, she served as Mission Chief for a technical assistance mission in Cabo Verde, where she led efforts to operationalize the macroprudential framework and strengthen institutional capacity. She has also contributed to Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) work in India and analytical work on monetary policy and financial conditions in the euro area.
Her research has been published in leading journals, including Oxford Review of Economic Policy, Review of International Economics, and World Development, and she has authored numerous IMF papers on monetary policy, quantitative tightening, and financial conditions.
She obtained her Ph.D. from Brandeis University and B.A. from Smith College, both in Economics.
