We use Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in order to guide our lessons. Each week, you can expect for your child to be exposed to content they are expected to know or learn based on their grade level.
NGSS Resources are inspired by key advances in science education research. The NGSS reflect these advances by enabling students to learn science by doing science.
Common Core State Standards are Nationally recognized. Of the fifty United States, forty-one states, as well as the District of Columbia, Guam, American Samoan Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands, have adopted the Common Core standards. All assignments are online. Live group instruction is once per class per week for approximately one hour. Teachers will also be available during office hours daily to assist with page navigation or assignment questions. Students are expected to complete assignments online independently as much as possible and come to class prepared with questions.
Math and science lab requires materials, printouts, and patience. Presently, labs will happen twice within the five week course for students enrolled in science or math who were signed up at registration.
More details on lessons, materials, and expectations are included in registration packets.
