Arizona's healthcare agencies, socially-minded businesses, and passionate philanthropists came together at the Connections of Hope Gala on Friday, October 7, 2022, to support teen suicide prevention and celebrate the charitable work of Mandy Purcell , beloved Arizona businesswoman and a decade-long supporter of Teen Lifeline.

The Connections of Hope Gala is Teen Lifeline's largest fundraiser of the year, helping our organization address the ever-growing needs of teen mental health and suicide prevention by raising funds and awareness for our life-saving programs. It is a sense of connectedness and hope that the teens who call and text our hotline seek out and receive. It is what schools enhance when spreading our hotline on their IDs and participating in our suicide prevention education trainings. And, it is what our teen volunteers develop with each other, our staff, and our callers.

To all the attendees, sponsors, and supporters of Connections of Hope 2022, thank you for raising a record-breaking $685,000 towards Teen Lifeline's life-saving suicide prevention work! Your support means the world not only to us, but also to the teens who will be connected to hope through the hotline and prevention services you funded with your contributions.

In fact, the Community Lifeline Award we give a local philanthropist at each gala was named after Molina Fine Jewelers CEO Alfredo J. Molina , as he was our very first honoree. On the event stage, Alfredo J. Molina was the one to hand the Community Lifeline Award to our 2022 Honoree, Mandy Purcell, while giving an inspiring speech. Molina Fine Jewelers has been part of our annual gala from the start, and we're grateful to continue working with them to save teen lives!

Every September during Teen Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, Teen Lifeline raises awareness of teenage mental health, suicide prevention, and the resources available to the community. This is done through the Chains of Hope project where schools work together to create paper chain links with messages of hope for students to take from, a community rally partnering with youth agencies across the Valley, and an increase in the number of prevention education workshops with students, school staff, and parents.

In the 2000s, Mandy Moore continued to build an impressive roster of acting credits. In 2003, she starred alongside Allison Janney, Peter Gallagher and Trent Ford in the romantic drama-comedy "How to Deal," which is based on Sarah Dessen's novels "That Summer" and "Someone like You." She played the starring role of Halley Martin, a rebellious teenager who falls in love with the new guy at school. The film grossed $14 million domestically. While "How to Deal" received generally negative reviews, film critic Roger Ebert praised Mandy for her "unaffected natural charm."

Mandy Moore nailed her breakout film role as mean girl Lana Thomas in this Disney classic, which follows the life of nerdy teen Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) after she discovers she is actually a princess of a small European country called Genovia.

Beginning in 2016, Moore has portrayed Rebecca Pearson on the NBC drama. This Is Us focuses on the Pearson family, which is comprised of Rebecca and her husband Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and their triplets as they deal with life as babies, kids, teens, adults and more. 589ccfa754
