Children have 4 "rules" or expectations - to be RESPECTFUL, HEALTHY, FRIENDLY and SAFE. Examples of what this looks like are posted in the hallway/sliding door.
We are a year round in-home family daycare.
We follow the Dublin Unified School District (DUSD) school holidays/calendar.
We have special days that are planned and communicated in advance:
Fun days - like "Pajama Day" - children wear their jammies to school or "Crazy Hair Day" - children come to school with unique hair styles.
Culture days - we encourage celebrating our diverse community. Families decide what and how they can celebrate accordingly. Examples can be: a shared book/story from parent or my personal favorite, sharing of the significance of the celebration with maybe a special shared dance or food. This is a great way to learn about each other. Some families don't celebrate. We honor YOUR family and it's needs and will always work alongside you.
We promote altruistic behavior towards ourselves, others and our environment.
Teaching social/emotional skills as well as academia is a priority.
NO time outs. For example, unruly behaviors might result in loss of privilege for a reasonable amount of time. If a child is 3 years old and threw sand at another child while playing, they might have to wait to play with sand for 4 minutes (one minute more than the child's age is what is acceptable.) Lots of conversation (individually and/or in a group setting) around the topic usually helps too. Children watch and listen to us and mimic us. Let's set a great example!
Aside from the serious DO'S and DON'Ts of licensing, we're a pretty laid back-silly-fun, bunch of people here. It's a prerequisite for working with children. We enjoy humor and don't take ourselves too seriously.
Open door policy: If ever, you need to talk about any questions or concerns, feel free to call, text, email so we can schedule a time to meet. We're in this together.
Come see what the excitement is all about!
