Village Blues is all about the beauty and sustainability that comes from organic fabrics and natural indigo dye.
In a world where we use too much plastic, too many disposables, and where even the cutest quilting fabric has a deep environmental and social cost, sourcing ethical and sustainable textiles for everyday use is our priority.
We only use organic textiles, and vintage fabrics when possible, because we care about healthy soil, clean water, and textile-workers’ health.
At the heart of Village Blues is indigo, the only natural source of blue. Indigo is fermented in a vat to make a magical, living blue reminiscent of all the colors of the sky.
Indigo catches in the weak spots of the fiber, and with many dips, the color darkens and the fiber strengthens. This is why blue jeans last for decades but khakis wear out after a few years. We all are familiar with the beautiful fade of old, worn indigo cloth.
