I am an Assistant  Professor (tenure track) at International College of Economics and Finance, Higher School of Economics (HSE). Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Economic History at Lund University. I received my PhD in economics from the University of Southern Denmark and my master's degree in economics from the New Economic School, Moscow. 

I am primarily focused on empirical research using historical data. My research interests center on uncovering the historical roots of disparities in human capital and demonstrating its causal impact on economic development and political modernization. My research also connects to economic drivers of mortality transition, and the demographic aspects of environmental catastrophes, such as famine.
