India has a vast coastline of over 7,500 kilometers, making it well-suited for harnessing the potential of tidal energy. The government of India has recognized the importance of renewable energy sources and has set ambitious targets to increase the country's renewable energy capacity.

Tidal energy is still a relatively new concept in India, but there are ongoing efforts to develop this technology. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has identified potential sites for tidal energy projects along the coasts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
