Research Summary
My research explores the intersection of mathematics, biology, and statistics, with a focus on understanding infectious disease transmission dynamics and mitigation strategies. Leveraging tools from nonlinear dynamics, dynamical control theory, and statistical modeling, I develop and analyze mathematical models to study how diseases spread and how interventions can alter their course. A key aspect of my work involves epidemic forecasting and time-series analysis to derive data-driven insights for public health decision-making. In my PhD thesis, I investigated a range of epidemic models incorporating different intervention strategies. This work involved; Designing novel transmission models to address complex biological and epidemiological questions, Conducting rigorous mathematical analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems to uncover the mechanisms driving disease spread, Performing parameter estimation and model simulations when empirical data were available. By unifying mathematical rigor with biological realism, my work advances population biology and applied epidemiology, offering scalable tools for outbreaks ranging from seasonal influenza to novel pathogens (e.g., SARS-CoV-2). I collaborate with public health agencies to ensure models align with on-the-ground needs.
