VIII Illinois Portuguese Language Connection! (Portuguese)

CAPE VERDE: JOY OF LIFE!

The Illinois Portuguese Language Connection is an initiative of Northwestern University, The University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

The main objective of this annual event it to gather the students of Portuguese from the three biggest universities in Illinois to interact in Portuguese, in a dynamic and festive event.

Last year, because of the pandemic, we did not hold the meeting. This year, instead of organizing the VIII I Illinois Portuguese Language Connection at Northwestern University, where it would take place, our meeting will happen online, on Zoom, on Saturday, April 24th at 11 am.

This year's theme is:

"Cape Verde: Joy of Life"

Come discover Cape Verde, an archipelago country, with its 10 islands full of natural beauty, contagious music, rich culinary traditions and.... poetry! Cape Verde is, before anything, a country that spreads joy.

In our event, we will count with the special presence of the award-winner writer Fátima Bettencourt. Straight from the city Mindelo, in São Vicente, Cape Verde, she will tell us about her books, her stories, and her memories! Click on her photo to read more about her.

Before the meeting with our special guest writer, we will set the mood with Cabo Verdian Mornas, presented by musicians Awgwstho e Zé Galvão, directly from Boston!
