Filipinos on a strike; Jeepney phase out creating a national protest

Half of the Nations people are already protesting and joining the transportation strike on the traditional jeepney to be phased out. The transport group Manibela president Mar Valbuena said “We hope that before the end of the week, President Marcos will hear our pleas… I call on our fellow drivers and operators to make a stand until President Marcos hears us and implement maximum tolerance on the streets,” making a stand to those groups who are protesting to keep the traditional jeepney.
Facing a transport crisis from the year 2023 up to the present year has earned various opinion from different platforms. Several transport groups are joining the strike and held a protest on the Malacanang Palace on December 25. Half of the Filipinos are protesting in every way they can through protest campaigns, marches, sit-ins and even through social media. Even students have been involved in this matter and encouraging drivers to go on a strike and some students are also using their own skills to join in the transport strike like creating infographics, editorial cartoons and even posters protesting that the jeepney phase out should not be continued. All Filipinos from different generations have said their opinions on the transport strike and half of the countries people are fighting to keep the traditional jeepney.
The Piston national president Mody Floranda said "On [December] 21 to 22, let's make sure that we're on the streets. Drivers, operators and their families should go out of their homes to join camp outs to show the administration our utter condemnation to their wrong policies, especially in light with the December 31 [deadline] where we will be robbed of our livelihood." Making the citizens more inclined with the nation’s current transport strike. The transport groups are also breadwinners and have certain responsibilities wherein if the jeepney phase out continuous half of the transport group will lose their main source of income and livelihood.
The government is pushing for consolidation before fully completing the PUV Modernization program, wherein it will be more environmentally friendly but if these PUVMP will arise the traditional jeepneys will ultimately phase out.
