ABOUT ME!
Hi everyone, this is Vieira. Welcome to my blog ! I'm currently studying in Mutiara Harapan senior high school and I am a member of 11B. I really like music and sport , both of them are the field that I interested the most. And I hope my writings can give useful information and fun to read.
My Unexpected Passion
Other than music, I like doing activities that involve physical movement as sports. The sports that I usually do are basketball, volleyball, tennis, swimming, and many others. Here, I want to talk about my passion for sports, specifically running.
I start liking running or sprinting in elementary school. At that time, I only do the sprint for my PE classes, then I found out that I could run faster than my classmates. My PE teacher also put me in a group of boys so I could compete with a better competitor. Moreover, my running journey continued to an intermediate level. Until one day, I got a chance to participate in a marathon competition held by our school in 2019 and I won third place!
Not only that, but I also win the girls' sprint competition for our school's sports day twice in a row! One in 2018 and one in 2019. Unfortunately, my running journey stopped for a while in 2020 because of the pandemic. Now I use my running skills in other sports like tennis and basketball. Even though it stops for a moment, I really wish to join more marathon competitions again. And I look forward to sports day 2023.
Is English Better than the Local Languages?
Today, English has become the first language of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and many more countries. This makes English become the number one language used in the world. However, maintaining the existence of local languages is also crucial.
As we know, English has become an international language which later helps us easier to communicate with different societies outside our country or those who do not speak our mother tongue. However, people who are not native English speakers are encouraged to learn English as this can help them with their studies, help them to get a better job, or even easily bind up with people around the world. This is why learning English is necessary.
On the other hand, learning local languages should not be avoided. The local language is also one feature of the culture of a country. Taking care of this culture also can expose our country to a big gain, such as becoming a thing that could attract the attention of other countries, for example, the student exchange in which students from other countries are willing to learn about our country's culture. This also can attract the attention of tourists and therefore can bring many advantages to the country, especially to the local citizens.
In conclusion, learning English and local languages are both essential as they can bring many advantages to an individual and even the country itself. Mastering both of these languages can help us to achieve better performance.

UN Day Celebration
United Nations day, also known as UN day is an anniversary, reflecting the official creation of the United Nations held every year on 24 October 2022. UN Day has traditionally been marked throughout the world by meetings, discussions, and exhibits about the achievements and goals of the organization. The theme for this year's celebration is 'End Racism, Build Peace' with aims to achieve true peace, which requires the building of societies where all members feel that they can flourish and involves creating a world in which people are treated equally, regardless of their race.
Mutiara Harapan junior high school also participated in and made an event on this annual United Nations day. The purpose of conducting this event is not only to celebrate the day but also to educate everyone that every culture is unique and special, also to Increase the awareness of the students, teachers, and visitors on ending racism and building peace with others. In this event, teachers, and students of JHS divided into seven groups: India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, and a continent of Europe.
Each of these groups designed a booth that showed lots of interesting facts that were both historical and cultural, including traditional clothes from India and South Korea, Indonesia's childhood game named Congklak, a Japanese sword called Katana, and many more. Not just provide information, but their booth also looks very colourful and attractive, well, therefore, can be a nice spot to take a picture. They also prepared games that visitors may play with and win a prize.
Moreover, there was also a part where all the groups performed on stage, but sadly we missed it. Another unluckily for us is that the majority of the food that they sell, has been sold out before we arrived as this event started early in the morning. I think it would be better if all of the booths could provide more cuisine, so those who came in the early noon could still taste their traditional food even if their booths have sold out of all snacks.
All in all, I'm so thankful that I got the chance to see their booths. The events they conducted on 24 October were genuinely fascinating and successfully delivered their aims. Regardless of the different cultures that we have and our races, all of us are special. With this, rather than creating a conflict, we can create a more peaceful life that complements each other. Through this event, everyone can also tighten the bonding between each student and the teacher. I would love to see this event again in the upcoming year with much bigger and more various countries and cultures.

Some people think that the teenagers should concentrate on all subjects at school. Others believe that teenagers should focus on the subject they are best at or they are most interested in. To what extent do you agree?
The issue where many people believe that teenagers should concentrate on all subjects in school and where others believe that teenagers should only focus on a specific field based on their potential and interest has always been argued lately. Here, both sides have their plus and minus. From my perspective, I believe that learning all subjects in school can develop the overall abilities and performance of students for the future.
Letting teenagers concentrate on more than one subject in school will help them determine their interests and prospects by studying various fields. This will sequentially strengthen the basic understanding of teenagers, as students will pick up the necessary information for future purposes. By learning all subjects, students can challenge themselves in improving their weaknesses which here, a school can motivate them to become risk-takers. In addition, the school performance, in this case, will get worse as the school should become the place where students learn discipline.
On the other hand, learning various subjects can be overwhelming and tiring for teenagers, including the struggle to discuss and manage their understanding proficiently. If student focus on many subjects, including the ones they don't like, it will be more likely for them to get bored and uneasy memorizing such kind of information faster and more effectively.
To sum up, both sides present equally good points, which help bolster their point of view. However, letting teenagers explore various fields and feel the struggle of learning will be beneficial for them in the future
Scholars Chill Day
A holiday is a day of festivity or recreation when everyone is free to do what they want. If I could create a new holiday, it would be something that could help scholars to relax and call it Scholars Chill Day. I don't think this holiday ever exists in any country. However, I believe some schools did this event a couple of times to celebrate children's day that only happens once a year.
To create a more beneficial holiday, I plan to celebrate this day once a month, particularly in the second or third week of the month. The reason for this circumstance is so students can have more time to refresh their minds and be ready for their studies again.
During the holiday, every student at any level is allowed to wear casual attire accordingly to the school rules. At school, students are given the freedom to choose activities that they want to do. The school also will be over by noon to give students time to spend with themselves and their families. Another crucial idea of this holiday is that the school would not give any homework or assignment to their students so they can enjoy the holiday with no burden.
All in all, Scholars Chill Day are intended to help every student who finds their school life so challenging and exhausting. By accomplishing this event, I hope all students can revive their energy and start school again with a fresh mind.
The Rise of Beauty Expenditure of Men and Women
In today's world, both men and women are investing significantly in beauty care. This trend reflects the increasing importance of self-care and grooming.
Societal changes have led to a heightened focus on appearance and its impact on various aspects of life. Beauty care has become a means to enhance overall image and well-being, boosting confidence both personally and professionally.
Advancements in technology have made a vast array of beauty products and services easily accessible. Tailored offerings for men and women cater to diverse needs, expanding the market and attracting a wider consumer base.
Social media's influence cannot be overlooked, as platforms like Instagram and YouTube celebrate idealized beauty standards. Aspiring to emulate these ideals, individuals are motivated to invest more in beauty products and treatments.
In conclusion, the growing expenditure on beauty care by men and women reflects evolving values and the importance of self-care. While prioritizing overall well-being, personal grooming plays a significant role in self-perception and interactions. As long as emphasis on appearance remains, beauty spending will continue to rise.
Leading Causes of Modern Pollution
Pollution has become a pressing issue in our contemporary world. Understanding its primary causes is crucial for effective mitigation. While pollution originates from diverse sources, several key factors contribute significantly to its prevalence today.
Firstly, industrial activities and the burning of fossil fuels release harmful pollutants, including greenhouse gases, toxins, and particulate matter.
Secondly, transportation, especially the combustion of fossil fuels in vehicles, emits exhaust gases and pollutants, adversely affecting air quality and contributing to climate change. Improper waste management is another major cause, as improper disposal of plastic, chemicals, and hazardous materials contaminates land, water bodies, and ecosystems. Agricultural practices, such as pesticide and fertilizer use, along with inadequate waste management in livestock farming, lead to water and soil pollution through chemical runoff.
In conclusion, the primary causes of modern pollution stem from industrial activities, transportation emissions, improper waste management, and unsustainable agricultural practices. Addressing these causes necessitates collective efforts towards sustainable practices, renewable energy adoption, enhanced waste management systems, and environmentally friendly agricultural methods. By tackling these root causes, we can strive for a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.
Family or Friend?
The question of whether having a good family or good friends is more important is a thought-provoking and personal matter. Both family and friends play vital roles in our lives, offering support, companionship, and emotional fulfillment.
Family holds a special place in our hearts, providing unwavering love, a sense of belonging, and shared experiences. They are a reliable support system, offering guidance and stability during challenging times. Family bonds run deep, shaping our identity and providing a strong foundation.
On the other hand, friends are the companions we choose, based on shared interests, values, and genuine connection. Good friends offer understanding, empathy, and diverse perspectives. They bring laughter, shared adventures, and a sense of belonging outside our immediate family circle.
While family provides an anchor of love and support, friends bring fresh perspectives, new experiences, and personal growth opportunities. The significance of family versus friends may differ depending on individual circumstances and personal preferences.
In conclusion, both family and friends hold immense value in our lives. The importance of each relationship depends on our unique needs and circumstances. Striking a balance and nurturing both family and friendship bonds can enrich our lives, fostering a robust social support network that contributes to our overall happiness and well-being.
Why Family is not that Close?
In today's world, families are not as close as they used to be. Several reasons contribute to this phenomenon. One primary cause is the increasing demands of modern life. With both parents often juggling full-time jobs and children being involved in various activities, finding precious time to spend together as a family becomes a challenge.
Furthermore, the influence of technology cannot be ignored. The advent of smartphones, social media, and online entertainment has created a divide within households. Family members often get absorbed in their own digital realms, leaving little room for genuine conversations and shared experiences.
Another factor is the evolving societal norms and values. Nowadays, individualism and independence take precedence, which has led to a decline in interdependence and reliance on immediate family members. People prioritize personal achievements and goals, sometimes neglecting the nurturing of strong family connections.
Additionally, the increased mobility of individuals plays a role. Job opportunities and educational pursuits often necessitate relocation, resulting in physical distances between family members. Regular family gatherings and celebrations become harder to arrange, further weakening family bonds.
To counteract these trends, it is crucial for families to prioritize quality time, foster open communication, and strike a balance between the virtual and real world. Building and maintaining strong family ties requires intentional effort, but the rewards of a close and connected family unit are priceless.
