Privacy Policy for Vidra - Video Downloader Browser

OVERVIEW
Vidra is an Android web browser with a built-in video downloader, developed by the Vidra team. This policy explains what information Vidra handles and how.
The short version: Vidra has no servers of its own and no user accounts. Browsing, video detection, and downloading all happen on your device, and nothing about what you browse or download ever leaves it. Vidra is free and paid for by ads, and it also reports crashes and counts how many people open the app each day. Those are handled by Google services described below, which receive standard advertising and diagnostic data but are never told what you browse, search for, or download.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We operate no servers, so no information about you is ever transmitted to us or stored by us. We do not create a user profile, we do not ask you to sign in, and we have no ability to see what you browse or download.
Three Google services are embedded in the app and do transmit limited data to Google: Google AdMob for advertising, Google Analytics for Firebase for counting daily app opens, and Firebase Crashlytics for crash reports. Each is described in its own section below.
None of these services receives the addresses of pages you visit, your search terms, your browsing history, the videos you detect or download, or the contents of any file you save. Those never leave your device.
ADVERTISING
Vidra is free and has no subscription or paid tier. It is funded by ads served through Google AdMob. Ads appear as a banner on the home screen and occasionally as a full-screen ad after you start a download or when you return to the home screen. Ads never appear over video you are watching and never interrupt a download in progress.
To select and measure ads, Google receives your IP address, information about your device and its operating system, your device's advertising ID, and data about your interaction with the ads themselves. Google may use this to serve personalised ads and to limit how often you see the same ad. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy, and by its description of how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Google is never given the addresses of pages you visit, your search terms, your browsing history, the videos you detect or download, or the contents of any file you save.
Where consent is legally required, including in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Vidra presents a Google-certified consent form before requesting any ad, and requests no ads until you have answered it. You can review or change that answer at any time through Ad privacy choices in Settings. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation entirely, in your Android device settings under Privacy and Ads.
ANALYTICS AND CRASH REPORTING
Vidra uses two Firebase services, for two narrow purposes: knowing how many people use the app each day, and finding out what is crashing.
Daily app opens. Google Analytics for Firebase reports that the app was opened. Vidra records no events of its own and tracks no screens, so what Google receives is limited to automatic signals: an app installation identifier, your device model, its Android version, the Vidra version you are running, an approximate country-level location derived from your IP address, and the fact and timing of app sessions. We use this only to see how many people use Vidra.
Crash reports. Firebase Crashlytics reports when Vidra crashes or hits an unexpected error. A report contains the technical details needed to fix the fault: where in the code it happened, the type of error, your device model, its Android version, the Vidra version, and the device's memory and storage state at the time, together with a crash-reporting installation identifier.
Neither service is given a web address, a page title, a search term, or the name of a file you downloaded. This is a structural property of how Vidra is built rather than a filtering step: because the app logs no custom events and performs no screen tracking, there is no mechanism by which such information could reach Google.
Where consent is legally required, the daily app-open count does not begin until you have given consent, and the same Ad privacy choices entry in Settings will turn it back off if you change your mind. Crash reports are sent regardless of that answer, because they carry no information about your browsing and are what allows a fault affecting you to be diagnosed and fixed.
Data received by these services is held by Google and governed by Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy and by the Firebase data processing terms.
INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
Vidra stores the following locally on your device only. This information is never transmitted to us or to any third party.
Browsing data. Like any browser, Vidra stores cookies, site storage, cached page content, and navigation history for the websites you visit, so that those sites function correctly. You can erase all of it at any time using Clear Browsing Data in Settings.
Download records. Vidra keeps a local list of your downloads, including file name, source page address, media address, file size, progress, and status. This list powers the Downloads screen and lets interrupted downloads resume.
Settings. Your preferred video quality, parallel download count, and default search engine are stored locally, along with a count of how many downloads you have started, which is used only to limit how often ads are shown.
Downloaded video files. Videos you choose to save are written to the Movies/Vidra folder in your device's shared storage, where they are accessible to your gallery and other media apps.
Your ad consent choice is stored on your device by the Google consent framework. The Firebase services also store their own installation identifiers on your device.
Uninstalling Vidra removes its locally stored browsing data, download records, settings, and the Firebase installation identifiers. Video files you saved to Movies/Vidra remain on your device unless you delete them yourself.
NETWORK CONNECTIONS
Vidra makes network connections in four situations.
First, when you browse. Vidra connects to the websites and search engines you navigate to, exactly as any browser does. Those websites receive your IP address, your device's browser user agent string, and any cookies associated with them. Their own privacy policies govern that data, not this one.
Second, when you download. Vidra connects to the media host serving the video you selected, in order to retrieve the file. Vidra may send the originating page address and relevant cookies with these requests so that the media host serves the file correctly.
Third, to load ads. Vidra connects to Google's advertising and consent services to retrieve ads and to record your consent choice, as described under Advertising above.
Fourth, to report crashes and app opens. Vidra connects to Google's Firebase services as described under Analytics and Crash Reporting above.
Vidra never routes your browsing traffic through servers we control, because we do not operate any.
THIRD PARTY WEBSITES
Vidra is a browser, so you will use it to reach websites operated by other companies. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Reading their privacy policies is worthwhile.
PERMISSIONS AND WHY THEY ARE NEEDED
Internet access. Required to load web pages, to download the videos you select, to retrieve ads, and to send crash reports.
Advertising ID. Declared so the Google Mobile Ads SDK can read your device's advertising ID on Android 13 and later. It is used for advertising and, where you have consented, by Google Analytics for Firebase. You can reset or delete the identifier at any time in your Android settings.
Notifications. Used only to display download progress and completion notices. Vidra sends no promotional, marketing, or advertising notifications. You may decline this permission; downloads still work, but they run without a visible progress notification.
Foreground service. Allows an in progress download to continue reliably when you switch apps or turn off the screen. The notification you see is the required indicator for this.
Storage on older Android versions. On Android 9 and earlier, Vidra requests write access to shared storage so it can save finished videos to your Movies folder. On Android 10 and later this permission is not requested; Vidra uses the system MediaStore instead and can write only its own files.
CONTENT PROTECTION
Vidra does not circumvent digital rights management, does not decrypt protected streams, and does not remove copy protection. Streams identified as DRM protected are detected and excluded. Vidra does not support YouTube.
Vidra is a general purpose tool. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to download any content you save, and for complying with copyright law and the terms of service of the websites you use.
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Vidra is not directed at children under 13 and is not listed in the Play Store's family programmes. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and the limited data described in this policy is collected by Google's services on a device basis rather than about identified individuals. Because Vidra serves ads and provides access to the open web, parents and guardians should supervise its use by minors.
If you believe a child has used Vidra and you wish to have associated data removed, contact us at the address below and we will act on it.
DATA SECURITY
Apart from the advertising, analytics, and crash-reporting data described above, your information never leaves your device, and its security is governed by your device's own protections, such as your screen lock and Android's app sandboxing. Data that does leave your device is transmitted over encrypted connections. We recommend keeping your device locked and your Android version up to date.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have direct control over Vidra's data at all times, without needing to contact us. You can clear browsing data from Settings, delete individual downloads from the Downloads screen, delete saved video files through Vidra or your gallery app, change or withdraw your advertising and analytics consent from Settings, reset your advertising ID in your Android settings, and remove everything local by uninstalling the app.
We hold no database of user information ourselves, so there is no account for us to close and no personal profile for us to export. Where the advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting services have received data associated with your device, clearing the app's data or uninstalling Vidra resets the identifiers involved, so previously collected data can no longer be linked to your device. If you are in a jurisdiction granting you rights of access, deletion, or objection and you wish to exercise them, contact us at the address below and we will do what we can from the Firebase console. Requests concerning data held by Google as a result of advertising should be directed to Google.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy as the app develops. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date at the top of this page, and where appropriate, noted in the app's release notes. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
