Video Live Wallpaper: HD & 4K
PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: Nov 19, 2025 (Last Updated: November 19, 2025)
BrightLight Team operates the Video Live Wallpaper: HD & 4K application, which is provided at no cost and is ad-supported. This privacy policy is intended to inform users regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information when using our Service.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
We may collect and use personal information to provide and improve our Service. The types of personal data we collect include:
Device or Other IDs: We may collect Device IDs (such as UUID, Advertising ID, or other unique device identifiers) for the purposes outlined in this policy. We do not collect IMEI or MAC addresses.
Approximate Location: Derived from your device's IP address.
Log Data: If the app encounters an error, we may collect log data such as your device's IP address, device name, operating system version, app configuration, and usage statistics.
In-App Activity: Information about your interactions with the app, such as app launches, feature usage, and session duration (collected via Firebase Analytics).
Cookies: We do not explicitly use cookies, but third-party services like Google Play Services, AdMob, and Firebase Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies to collect information for their services.
Precise Location: The app can access your device’s precise location (GPS) when you grant the CAMERA + LOCATION permission together and use features like “add GPS watermark” or “geo-tag photos”. This data is processed only on-device and NEVER sent to our servers or any third party.
Crash logs with installed apps list: Firebase Crashlytics automatically collects a list of all apps installed on your device when a crash occurs. This helps us fix bugs faster. Google receives this list. You can disable it any time in Settings → Privacy → Analytics & diagnostics → turn off “Share analytics with developers”.
Contact Permissions (READ_CONTACTS & WRITE_CONTACTS)
Our app requests permission to read and write to your contacts database solely to support the optional contact-specific ringtone feature. These permissions are not
Required to use the core functionality of the app (wallpapers, general ringtones, etc.).
When These Permissions Are Requested
Contact permissions are requested only when you actively attempt to use one of the following features: - Setting a custom ringtone for a specific contact
- Assigning a downloaded ringtone to an individual person in your contact list
- Modifying contact ringtone preferences through the app's ringtone settings
You will never be asked for those permissions:
- Upon first opening the app (unless you voluntarily enable them in the permission screen)
- While browsing wallpapers
- While setting system-wide ringtones
- While downloading ringtones for personal listening
How We Use those Permissions
READ_CONTACTS Permission:
- Allows you to browse your contact list and select specific contacts
- Enables the contact picker interface when assigning ringtones
- Reads contact names and IDs to display them in the selection interface
WRITE_CONTACTS Permission:
- Saves your chosen ringtone assignment to the selected contact's data entry
- Modifies only the "custom ringtone" field for the specific contacts you select
- Does not alter, delete, or modify any other contact information (phone numbers, emails, addresses, photos, etc.)
What We DO NOT Do With Your Contact Data
We want to be absolutely clear about what we do not do with your contact information:
- ❌ We do not collect any contact data (names, phone numbers, emails, or any other information)
- ❌ We do not transmit contact information to our servers or any third-party servers
- ❌ We do not store contact data in our databases
- ❌ We do not share contact information with advertisers, analytics services, or any other parties
- ❌ We do not sync contact data across devices
- ❌ We do not use contact information for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond the ringtone assignment feature
Data Storage and Processing
All contact-related operations occur entirely on your device:
- Contact data is read directly from your device's local contact database
- Ringtone assignments are written back to your device's local contact database
- No contact information ever leaves your device through our app
- The association between contacts and ringtones is managed by Android's native contact storage system
Your Control
You have complete control over these permissions:
Granting Permission:
- You can grant contact permissions at any time through the app's permission screen
- You can grant them when prompted while using the contact ringtone feature
- Granting permission is entirely voluntary
Denying Permission:
- You can deny contact permissions and still use all other app features
- The app will function normally for wallpapers, ringtones (non-contact), and AI features
- You can continue to set system-wide ringtones without granting contact access
Revoking Permission:
- You can revoke contact permissions at any time through your device's Settings > Apps > Video Live Wallpapers
> Permissions
- Revoking permissions will not affect ringtone assignments you've already made (they remain in your contacts)
- You can re-grant permissions later if you wish to use the feature again
Permission Request Behavior
Our app follows these principles when requesting contact permissions:
1. Just-in-time requests: Permissions are requested only when you try to use the feature
2. Clear explanation: When requested, you'll see an explanation of why the permission is needed
3. Respect denials: If you deny permission, we won't repeatedly ask (after 2 denials, you'll be directed to system settings if you want to enable it)
4. No penalty: Denying contact permissions does not reduce app functionality outside of contact-specific ringtones
Technical Implementation
For transparency, here's how the feature works technically:
1. When you select "Set as Contact Ringtone," the app requests contact permissions if not already granted
2. Upon granting permission, Android's contact picker opens, showing your contacts
3. You select a contact from your device's contact list
4. The app writes the ringtone file URI to the selected contact's custom ringtone field in the Android ContactsContract database
5. All operations use standard Android APIs and follow Android's security model
6. The actual ringtone file is stored in the app's cache directory on your device
Compliance & Security
- We comply with Google Play's User Data policy regarding contact data handling
- Contact permissions are properly declared in our app manifest
- We follow Android's runtime permission model (Android 6.0+)
- No contact data is included in analytics, crash reports, or logs
- Contact permissions are separate from network permissions, ensuring no accidental transmission
Questions or Concern
If you have any questions about how we handle contact permissions or would like confirmation that your contact data remains private, please contact us. We are committed to transparency and protecting your privacy.
