Case Summary ;Â
This 3 year old girl presented with difficulty in walking for two years. The child had at least grade 4 power in all 4 limbs and had urinary continence. MRI of lumbosacral spine showed a low lying conus ending at L5 with a split cord malformation at L2-L4 level and a fatty filum terminale. After emphasizing on the prophylactic nature of the surgical intervention to the parents (i.e.: prevent neurological worsening) she underwent L3-S1 laminectomy and excision of bony spur with untethering of cord.
