Video Compressor ("the app", "we", "us") is a video compression tool for Android. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. By using the app you agree to this policy.
The app does not require you to create an account or sign in. Your videos are processed entirely on your device. We do not upload, copy, or store your videos on any server.
Your videos and media: Your videos and media: With your permission, the app lists the videos on your device (thumbnails, names, sizes, durations and folders) so you can choose which to compress, or you can pick videos with the Android photo picker instead. The app reads a video only to show or compress it and saves the result to your device's Movies folder. Your videos and this list never leave your device.
App settings: Preferences such as theme and default quality are stored locally on your device.
The app uses the following services, which may collect data under their own privacy policies:
Google AdMob (advertising): To show ads, AdMob may collect device identifiers (including the advertising ID), IP address, and app-usage/diagnostic information. See Google's policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543.
Advertising partners: Some ads come from other ad networks that Google AdMob works with (mediation partners, for example Meta Audience Network, InMobi, Mintegral, Digital Turbine, Pangle and Liftoff). When one of them shows an ad, it may collect the same kinds of information as AdMob under its own privacy policy. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland this depends on your consent, which you can change in the app under Settings > Privacy options.
Google Play Billing (purchases): If you buy the Pro upgrade, Google processes the payment. We receive only your purchase/entitlement status — never your payment card or billing details. See https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Analytics and crash reports. We use Google Firebase to see how the app is used (which screens are opened, which settings are chosen, whether a compression finished or failed) and to receive a report when the app crashes. This tells us about the app, never about you. Your videos, their contents and their file names are never sent anywhere. Uninstalling the app stops this.
We do not collect personal information ourselves, and we do not sell your data.
Notifications: To show compression progress and completion.
Videos access: So the app's gallery can list your videos for you to choose from. If you allow only some videos, or decline, the app shows only those, or lets you pick with the Android photo picker.
Foreground service: To keep compression running while the app is in the background.
Internet: To load ads.
Data described in section 3 is handled by Google (AdMob, Google Play, Firebase) and by AdMob's advertising partners, each under its own privacy policy.
Settings and compressed outputs live on your device. Uninstalling the app removes app data and settings. Compressed videos you saved remain in your gallery until you delete them. For advertising data held by Google or its advertising partners, use your device's Ads settings (reset/limit advertising ID) or the in-app consent controls where available.
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Because we hold no personal data on servers, most requests (access, deletion) are satisfied by uninstalling the app and managing your Google advertising settings. For questions about data collected by Google (AdMob, Play) or AdMob's advertising partners, refer to their privacy policies.
Data transmitted for ads uses industry-standard encryption in transit. Local data is protected by Android's app sandbox.
We may update this policy; the "Effective date" above will change accordingly.
