This is not just a support group. The experience will be professional therapy led by Dr Andrea Cunard, LMHC. It is designed to be a sixteen session experience but will be delivered in four-session modules, meaning no long-term commitment. Each four session module reserves a seat in the group which has a limited membership. As a closed group, no new members will be accepted once the module begins. This is designed to protect the safety and trust that must be built and maintained among the members in order for the group to function. Thus, payment for the module is required whether or not you attend individual sessions. No matter how many modules you choose to complete, you will gain a clearer understanding of the path you need to follow toward acceptance and hope. Most importantly, the group format allows you to build connections with like-minded fellow sojourners that will continue long after the group ends!
Message from your group leader:
After losing my mother in my early twenties, I stumbled into this thing called counseling and was blessed with a guide who helped me make sense of my thoughts and emotions. It was that experience which inspired me to do the same for others. Ten years afterward, I walked across the stage with my counseling degree. In the following years, I have continued to experience major losses in the forms of loved ones, locations, jobs, relationships, etc., forcing me to master the art of finding joy in the midst of sorrow...continuing to write my story despite the risks. My personal therapy has also highlighted losses from my past that I had not recognized, allowing me to face the future with greater insight and wisdom. Through experience and continuing education, I have developed a speciality in the area of grief and loss. It continues to be a blessing to walk alongside others on this path of grieving and I look forward to this community of hearts ready to rise from the ashes!

The group will be limited in size and will be action oriented. Your group leader will provide specific questions and activities designed to create space for transformation and growth. These interventions are also designed to create the courage and cohesion needed for members to support each other in their growth process. Typical group procedures will include “round robins” where each person in the 'circle' responds to a prompt and mostly spontaneous discussion centered around guiding questions provided by the leader. Creative activities will also be provided which offer an opportunity to non-verbally process thoughts and feelings. These activities will typically end with an opportunity to verbalize what was felt and thought during the activity. In between sessions, participants will have assignments designed to facilitate application of group growth to real life.
The cost for this group experience is $57 per 1.5 hour session, payable by module which is a total of $228 for 4 sessions. This $228 cost for 6 hours of intensive facilitation represents a significant savings over the standard $150 per hour therapy fee! Phenix has activated Afterpay as an option with our invoices which would allow you to split the amount due into four, bi-weekly payments (interest free), if approved. Note that payment is for your place in the group, whether or not you attend so fees are non-refundable regardless of meeting attendance. If a meeting is missed, it is up to group members to connect with others to obtain what was missed. Members can cancel at any point but will not receive a refund of fees already submitted.
We have prepared two different formats for this group: online or in-person. If you have a busy schedule, would love to avoid fighting traffic or having to arrange child-care, then meeting online is perfect for you. It is often easier to settle into this process when working in the comfort of your own space. It is also helpful to your group leader and your fellow group members to see you in your life context. We realize however, that sometimes our home location is not conducive to the work we want to do in therapy, so we have secured a wonderful meeting spot at a church location in Apopka, FL. When you apply for the group, you can let us know your preferences for location as well as meeting times.
