US Literacy is in Crisis
VICTORY THE CREATOR is a multi-platform educational media project that uses researched video content, public conversation, and culturally grounded storytelling to improve literacy outcomes for underrepresented audiences with a focus on Black communities navigating global systems of authoritarian power, media, and misinformation. By bringing Black literature into dialogue with contemporary media, VTC helps viewers interpret narratives, assess information critically, and understand culture with greater depth and context.
VTC works to address the American literacy crisis through three connected forms of literacy: media literacy, multicultural literacy, and information literacy as outlined by education advocate, Dr. Matthew Lynch. The project also exists to resist the extraction of Black human and cultural capital and to support the democratic rights, imagination, and self-determination of Black people across international backgrounds.
The project is designed to make liberatory education more publicly accessible. VTC creates content that helps audiences build media literacy by analyzing digital narratives and online influence; multicultural literacy by situating Black life within diasporic and historical context; and information literacy by helping viewers find, evaluate, and use knowledge in ways that support fuller lives and stronger communities
