Highway Patrol is a subdivision for enforcing the law primarily on the highways. Though we are able to patrol within common areas in AOPs such as Ballarat or Melbourne, it is recommended you stay within the highway areas while activated to provide the best experience as a Traffic Enforcement unit. The primary reason we activate is to reduce vehicle crimes such as speeding, reckless driving, and DUI’s. Though these crimes are accessible to us, we will most likely be involved with pursuits due to our custom vehicles that allow us to go 300+ Kph safely and are generally faster than standard issued vehicles from GD and CIRT.
CIU (Criminal Investigation Unit) is a subdivision of ‘Crime Command’ which is a specialist role within Victoria Police. The primary role is to conduct high level specialist investigations to detect, disrupt and prevent serious crime and offending.
