About me
Olá! Welcome to my website!
I am a lecturer (Assistant Professor) in comparative politics in the Department of Politics at the University of Reading, UK.
My research agenda lies at the intersection of comparative social policy and political behaviour, with a primary focus on democracies across Latin America. In my studies, I draw on insights from formal theory to derive hypotheses about people’s attitudes and political behaviour.
My work employs experiments, machine learning, and applied econometrics to address questions of broad societal interest. For example:
Does the rise of religious minorities reshape politics?
Does poverty reduction increase participation in elections?
Are the electoral effects of large-scale infrastructure policies enduring?
My research has been published in leading political science journals, including The Journal of Politics, The British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, Political Science Research and Methods, and The Journal of Theoretical Politics, among others.
I hold a PhD in Political Science from the University of Zurich (UZH) and am a proud alumnus of the University of São Paulo (USP) and the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Brazil.
