У 1975 році закінчив Київський державний університет ім. Т. Г. Шевченка за фахом - теоретична ядерна фізика.

Направлений на роботу на Чорнобильську атомну електростанцію АЕС, яка тільки будувалася, де пропрацював 16 років. Був свідком та частиною її народження, життя і загибелі. Брав участь у фізичному пуску всіх енергоблоків, починаючи з першого, учасник ліквідації аварії на ЧАЄС у 1986-1991 роках.

He was born on September 29, 1949 in the city of Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine. He was fond of drawing since childhood.

In 1975 he graduated from Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State University with a degree in theoretical nuclear physics.

He sent to work at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which is just under construction. He worked there for 16 years. He witnessed and was part of its birth, life and death. Participated in the physical commissioning of all power units, starting with the first, a participant in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident in 1986-1991.

Картини Віктора Петрова схиляють до роздумів. Victor Petrov's paintings are thought-provoking. The plots of the paintings are the fruit of the artist's reflection on the world and man's place in it, the collision of contradictions between the human essence and the world around him, anxiety for the future and the consequences of human activity. Images have a deep philosophical meaning, warnings, they have become symbols of the Age. Near his paintings you acutely feel the responsibility of man to the universe, the responsibility for his life and the lives of future generations, almost painfully you feel the passage of time - "Chronos", the fragility of everything created on Earth.

Тут, у місті–супутнику Чорнобильської АЕС, Поліському Атомграді Прип’яті відбулася перша виставка живопису самодіяльного художника, який малювати почав з самого дитинства, за покликом душі.

Картини художника виставлялися у Києві, Варшаві, Кельні, Берліні, Москві, Парижі, знаходяться у приватних колекціях в Україні, Німеччині, Америці, Японії.

Here, in the satellite city of the Chernobyl NPP, Polissya’s Atomic City of Pripyat, the first exhibition of paintings by an amateur artist took place, who began painting from childhood, at the call of the soul.

The artist's paintings have been exhibited in Kyiv, Warsaw, Cologne, Berlin, Moscow, Paris, and are in private collections in Ukraine, Germany, America, and Japan.

Відвідувачі Національного музею "Чорнобиль" мали можливість наочно відчути магію картин Віктора Петрова, доторкнутися до його всесвіту. В музеї його персональні виставки з успіхом відбулися двічі - у 1994 та 2009 роках.

В експозиції онлайн виставки 2021 р. представлені роботи художника, створені після Чорнобильської аварії, сучасний постчорнобильський живопис з його приватної колекції та з фондів Національного музею «Чорнобиль».

До кожної живописної роботи додаємо власні авторські пояснення та коментарі.

Виставку доповнюють особисті фотографії та документи художника - учасника ліквідації наслідків аварії на Чорнобильській АЕС, його авторські ескізи до значків та пам'ятних медалей, які автор передав до колекції нашого музею.

Visitors of the National Museum "Chornobyl" had the opportunity to feel the magic of Victor Petrov's paintings, to touch his universe. His personal exhibitions at the museum were successfully held twice in 1994 and 2009.

The exposition of the online exhibition in 2021 presents the artist's works created after the Chernobyl accident, modern post-Chernobyl paintings from his private collection and from the funds of the National Museum "Chornobyl".

We add author's explanations and comments to each painting.

The exhibition is complemented by personal photographs and documents of the artist - a participant in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident, his sketches of badges and commemorative medals, which the author transferred to the collection of our museum.
