Board of Education District One Brunswick County
The March 5th Primary is very important. My opponent and I are both running on the Republican ticket for District 1. If I am elected, I will make decisions that affect all of the schools. For this reason, voters all over our county are able to vote for all districts.
Early voting (Feb. 15 - March 2) and the Primary Election Day (March 5th) will decide who is on the November ballot. Therefore, I have to win the Primary Election. Please come out and vote in this very important primary! See you at the polls.

Personal Information
Married for 34+ years
Family of Educators! Son and Daughter-in-law (both teachers), three grandchildren, one dog
Knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was in kindergarten - true story!
Professional Background
Believe that every child can learn and do their personal best
30 years experience in education as a teacher assistant (1 year), kindergarten teacher (12 years), assistant principal (4 years), and most recently principal of Union (13 years)
Enjoy working with teachers, students, staff, parents, and community partners to support students and provide them the tools needed (socially, emotionally, and academically) to be successful in school and life
Knowledge of curriculum, teaching, and learning
Believe that if students develop solid foundational skills in elementary school, especially in the early years (K-2), they will become lifelong learners and have a successful life. It's my airplane analogy; if we build them strong in grades K-5, they will fly in grades 6-12 and beyond
Believe that relationships, hard work, and communication are the keys to success
During my tenure as principal at Union, our school won two national awards: 2017 National Title 1 Distinguished School Award, 2019 National Blue Ribbon School for High Student Achievement awarded by the US Dept. of Education
My Goals
Implement Pre-K programs throughout our district to provide pre-k students the opportunity to gain the needed skills to be successful in kindergarten.
Provide additional support staff (teacher assistants) in grades K-1 classrooms to support teaching and learning of early literacy and numeracy skills. This will provide more hands-on support for our children!
Ensure that Brunswick County Schools is competitive with surrounding districts regarding the hiring and retaining of staff.
To lead and support Brunswick County Schools by creating and revising policies to ensure the needs of students, staff, and parents are met.
Please make a contribution to help me with the marketing needs of my campaign for Board of Education. This is definitely a grass roots campaign. No donation is too small. If every supporter of mine could donate $5.00, $10.00, or $20.00, it will help me pay for my yard signs, bookmarks, and other ways to spread the the word that I am running. I truly believe that I can make a difference for the children, parents, and staff members of all of our Brunswick County Schools. I value your financial support more than you know.
