English Language Arts is the perfect way to start and/or continue your elementary students in their writing journey! Students will write about exciting topics such as the Bayeux Tapestry, tsunamis, Jerusalem and the Crusades, and other interesting subjects while they learn the Structure and Style® writing method. These lessons cover seven of the nine IEW Units and include literature suggestions and vocabulary cards.
Each week we will meet on Mondays to learn all about the beautiful structures and styles offered through IEW curriculum. We will learn new writing skills, review old skills, learn new vocabulary, and have a lot of fun building confidence, as we write using IEW’s structure and style methods. Parents will need to be available to help their students during the week with weekly assignments.
Students will need a student text, which can be easily found here:

The Story of Liberty offers a fantastic opportunity to help students to build their critical thinking skills as we discuss not only the facts and events of history, but also analyze the decisions and actions historical figures took. What was the resulting impact? Was the resulting impact positive enough to counter the negative effects? Although recommended for middle school students, this class would be appropriate for 9th grade students who haven’t yet studied American history and would benefit from a gentle introduction.
Students will be assigned weekly reading assignments, workbook pages to complete, new vocabulary, along with occasional mapping and writing assignments. In class games, discussions and student presentations will help students master information in a fun and engaging way.
