History project: Viby in Närke, from the ice age to the present

The project aims to describe Viby's history from the ice age to the present. A local history or micro-history that follows the development of society from period to period. Viby is a very old agricultural plain located on the southernmost part of the plain in Närke. The area is crossed by communication routes between Östergötland/ Västergötland and Uppland/ Västmanland/ Södermanland. These contact routes have always been important for the area's development.

The background of the project

It started with genealogy a few years ago. It turned out that all the ancestors of my father lived on different farms in Viby from the beginning of the 17th century. I then became curious about the conditions under which they lived and started looking in the literature. Since I have been interested in history for a long time, it was natural to go ahead with writing a history for Viby from the ice age to the present.

I was born and raised in Viby, my name is Per-Olow Andersson and I have the following background:

Engineering degree in Örebro and Pol mag degree at the University of Gothenburg. Data development for Bofors and IBM. Administrative investigations for the City of Gothenburg and Studsvik. CFO Studsvik Instrument. Now retired and living in Nyköping
