VibeJot is a Chrome extension that replaces the New Tab page with a personal sticky-note board, locally bundled nature wallpapers, and a search field that uses your existing default search provider. It also lets you save text that you explicitly highlight on a webpage by choosing “Save selection to VibeJot” from the right-click menu.
VibeJot processes notes you create or edit, their layout and display preferences, wallpaper and language settings, and any selected webpage text that you explicitly choose to save. A saved webpage selection includes the source page URL so you can identify where it came from. It does not read your entire browser history or continuously monitor your browsing.
Notes, source URLs and settings are stored locally in the Chrome extension's IndexedDB and localStorage. The version reviewed for this policy has no account system or cross-device sync. Data generally remains until you remove it in VibeJot, clear the extension's browser data, or uninstall the extension. Deleted notes may remain in the Trash until permanently removed.
When you submit a web search, Chrome forwards the query to the default search engine you chose in Chrome. That search provider processes your query under its own terms and privacy policy. The VibeJot publisher does not receive these search queries. VibeJot does not change your default search engine.
In the reviewed version, VibeJot does not upload notes, saved website selections, source URLs, settings, or browsing history to the publisher's servers. The packaged code does not include third-party advertising or analytics transmission. Bundled nature wallpapers are stored within the extension.
You may export a JSON backup to a file on your device, and import a backup yourself. Exported JSON files are not encrypted. Anyone with access to such files may be able to read your notes and saved source URLs. Store your backups securely.
VibeJot is designed to process note data locally for its user-facing features. The publisher does not sell or transfer user data to third parties for advertising, credit scoring, or unrelated purposes. The publisher does not use user data for personalized ads and does not allow human access to the contents of your locally stored notes.
You can create, edit, delete or restore notes, manage the local wallpaper settings, and export backups. You can remove VibeJot and its stored data by uninstalling it, subject to Chrome's storage behavior. The extension replaces Chrome's New Tab page only while it is enabled.
We may update this policy if VibeJot adds new features such as accounts, cloud sync, or remote wallpapers. Any future changes to data handling will be disclosed and the Chrome Web Store privacy declarations will be updated before release.
