Vibe Check is a private friend-group voting app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how users can control their data.
1. Information We Collect
When you use Vibe Check, we may collect the following information:
Account Information
- Email address
- Username
- Display name
- User ID
Profile Information
- Profile picture, if you choose to upload one
Group and App Activity
- Groups you create or join
- Group codes
- Group membership
- Daily questions
- Votes and voting results
- App settings such as dark mode and notification preferences
Device and Notification Information
- Firebase Cloud Messaging token, used to send push notifications
- Notification permission status
Camera and Photo Access
- Camera access is used only for scanning QR codes to join groups.
- Photo library access is used only when you choose a profile picture.
- We do not use your camera or photos for any other purpose.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Let you create, join, and manage friend groups
- Show group members, votes, results, and stats
- Upload and display profile pictures
- Send push notifications when a group question changes
- Improve app functionality and safety
- Provide account deletion and support
3. Firebase Services
Vibe Check uses Firebase services provided by Google, including:
- Firebase Authentication for login and account management
- Cloud Firestore for storing user profiles, groups, votes, and app data
- Firebase Storage for storing profile pictures
- Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications
- Firebase Cloud Functions for sending group notifications
Firebase may process data according to Google Firebase’s own privacy and security practices.
4. Push Notifications
If you allow notifications, Vibe Check may send you notifications such as:
- Daily reminders
- Group question change alerts
- App-related updates
You can turn off notifications at any time in the app settings or your device settings.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
Your profile name, username, profile picture, votes, and group activity may be visible to other members of the groups you join, depending on the app feature.
We may share limited data with service providers such as Firebase only to operate the app.
6. Data Retention
We keep your data while your account is active.
If you delete your account, we remove your account profile and related account data where possible. Some group-related data may remain if needed to keep group history functional for other members.
7. Account Deletion
You can delete your account inside the app:
Settings → Profile → Delete Account
Deleting your account removes your profile and signs you out of the app.
8. Children’s Privacy
Vibe Check is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it.
9. Security
We use Firebase security rules and authentication to help protect user data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Choices
You can:
- Edit your display name and username
- Change or remove your profile picture
- Turn notifications on or off
- Leave or delete groups
- Delete your account
