The Via Solis application requests access to the device's geographic location (GPS) solely for technical and scientific purposes. These coordinates are required to determine the precise position of the observer, enabling the astronomical algorithms (based on the VSOP87 theory) to accurately calculate the solar azimuth and solar elevation.
Location data is processed in real time and stored exclusively on the device to restore the last known position upon restart.
Via Solis does not transmit, collect, or share geographic coordinates or any other personal data with external servers or third parties.
The application requests internet access strictly for:
Downloading and updating astronomical and climatological parameter values required for calculations (via CSV files from a public GitHub repository and NASA POWER APIs).
Loading interactive map tiles.
The application remains fully functional offline using locally stored default parameters.
No personal user data is transmitted during network connections, nor is any browsing activity tracked.
