Through electronic installations, I delve into "the boundaries of life", examining the indispensable role communication plays in fostering complexity within living systems. My diverse interests converge around a central metaphor in my artistic practice: "The ecotone." Derived from ecological principles, this concept denotes the transitional interface between two distinct ecosystems. Within this dynamic zone, species from adjoining ecosystems coexist, giving rise to unique and often endemic organisms.

“There isn’t a sharp line dividing humans from the rest of the animal kingdom.
All the time, we find animals doing things that, in our arrogance, we thought was just human.”
Jane Goodall
This installation explores the concept of quorum sensing through electronic bacteria simulation. In this setup, viewers are immersed in a micro-scale environment where the dynamics of bacterial communication and virulence processes are amplified. The electronic bacteria within the installation simulate the quorum sensing mechanism, wherein each bacterium secretes a protein, and once a threshold concentration is reached, they collectively initiate an attack on the simulated host organism.
The intention behind this installation is to expose viewers to a scenario where they witness the emergent behavior of bacterial communities and their decision-making processes, akin to social behavior, in a context where they cannot exert direct control. This experience aims to provoke contemplation on themes such as microbiology, communication, collective behavior, and the dynamics of control and agency in complex systems.

This piece is an electronic evocation of a mental image, as if it were possible to consider ideas as living organisms inhabiting our minds. The exuvia has the capacity to reproduce reminiscences through sound; it functions as a kind of sonic imprint.

¿Cómo transmitir a los otros el infinito Aleph,
que mi temerosa memoria apenas abarca?
Jorge Luis Borges
Can we compare the Internet to what Jorge Luis Borges referred to as the Aleph, a tiny aperture through which one could perceive all the places in the world from every conceivable angle? This electronic installation suggests the potential for drawing an analogy between Borges' Aleph and the Internet; both serve as focal points that encompass the entirety of existence: the simultaneous infinity.

Explores the most common communication mechanism in the pelagic zone: bioluminescence; evokes and interprets the evolutionary possibilities of an electronic jellyfish and the probable code originating from its own body.

Explore le mécanisme de communication le plus courant de la zone pélagique : la bioluminescence ; évoque et interprète les possibilités évolutives d’une méduse électronique et le code, probable, issu de son propre corps.

It simulates the exact moment when two primitive organisms, Ictus and Acarus, attempt for the first time to establish an interspecies dialogue through acoustic and visual communication, distinguishing it from a “more primitive” form such as chemical signaling.
It intensifies the interdependence with the viewer and becomes a metaphor for the symbiotic relationship between humans and technology, where it is difficult to distinguish who is the host and who is the guest.
