Scouting for Food is one of Scouting’s community stewardship projects aimed at addressing the problem of hunger in the community in which we live and work.
Scouting for Food is a food collection effort carried out by Scouts from our community. Scouts collect food throughout a designated area; then the food is carried to common collection points. These points, which are various food banks in the area, then distribute the food to those in need in the community, as well as other local shelters and kitchens.
Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement. Through initiative and hard work, Scouting America has developed a framework that can feed tens of thousands of local residents with emergency aid. It is up to the people of our community to make Scouting for Food a success.
Scouting for Food brings Scouts closer to their communities by working with neighborhoods to assist those in need.
With your help, the Scouts of the Verdugo Hills Council can feed many families this holiday season and can make a difference in the lives of those in need.
