MISSION
The Growlersburg Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) mission is to "honor the dead by helping the living". This is achieved through a multi-pronged approach: fostering camaraderie among veterans, serving veterans, honoring the varied contributions of veterans and the military, military personnel and the communities and families who support us and advocating for the rights of all veterans.

As yesterday's defenders of freedom, we want to welcome today's military service members into our VFW community. Our common bond is our commitment to serve our comrades and our country. Your courage and sacrifice have made a difference in preserving and defending world peace.
Eligibility for the VFW If you have received a campaign medal for overseas service; have served 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in Korea; or have ever received hostile fire or imminent danger pay, then you're eligible to join our VFW as a member.
Members help shape the mission of the VFW. Our Post has an underground Canteen reminiscent of a speakeasy. We have a beautifully maintained Historic Hall and a 10 acre Memorial Park. The VFW members continue their commitment to service and support a variety of community projects annually: Monthly food bank, Holiday dinners, make all the decisions relative to our Post and we have long standing record of patriotic service on the Divide.
Stop by the Post to fill out an application or apply on line through National here - New Member Application
The Canteen is an underground bar serving VFW Members, Auxiliary Members, Veterans + any of their guests. There are "Public Welcome" days to recruit members and volunteers and to fund raise. Each week there is a published schedule of events. The Canteen offers * Darts * Pool * Board Games * Puzzles * 3 TVs.
Visitors Welcome! If you are a visitor to the Canteen or Hall please ask for assistance navigating the historic shadow boxes, photo albums, and books as these are great points of pride. Please be advised, "visitors" may not be served an alcoholic beverage unless they are sponsored as a "guest" of a VFW/Auxiliary member or veteran.
Sign the Book! If you are sponsored as a visitor or a "guest" of a VFW/Auxiliary member or a veteran do not be offended when we ask you to sign in the BOOK. It is our way of welcoming you and provides us an opportunity to get to know you better. Please leave an email or contact info.
Public Welcome Events: The VFW is a nonprofit organization serving a very specific and special community of VFW members, veterans, Auxiliary and their guests. It takes great effort to manage the VFW as an all volunteer organization so we sponsor recruitment events and fund raising events regularly. If the Post sponsors a recruitment or fundraising event, the public may be welcomed to the sponsoring facility to enjoy and fully participate in the festivities.
Regular Public Events are designed to recruit and raise funds. They include, but are not limited to the following: Founders Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Dinner, Open Mic Nights, Brews-Beers and BBQ, Halloween Ball, Memorial Day, July 4th Picnic, Casino Night, BINGO and Bloody Marys, Chili Cook-Off, Music Fest, Biscuits and Gravy Cook-Off.
Rental: The Hall, Canteen, Kitchen, and Park may be rented for a private event. All interested persons must complete our Rental Request Form
