In conjunction with 28th International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks (ICCCN – 2019)
July 29 – August 1, 2019, Valencia, Spain
Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) have emerged as a new breed of Self-Organized Networks (SONs). In addition to vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication, it assumes that vehicular nodes are connected to other smart objects equipped with a powerful multi-sensor platform, communication technologies, computation units, and IP-based connectivity to the Internet, thereby creating a network called Internet of Vehicles (IoV).
IoV applications rely on cooperation-aware communication where information is exchanged intelligently among communicating nodes. This phenomenon advocates for content-centric communication paradigm for IoV applications where information is of the essence rather than the source and/or location of information. As a result, owing to the Future Internet Architecture (FIA), recently Content-Centric Networking (CCN) and Named Data Networking (NDN) are considered to be the architectural backbones for SONs and its breeds. Furthermore, the integration of IoV with other networks, Software-Defined Networks (SDNs) are adopted as a new solution, supporting the inherited communication technologies and allowing new network architecture, called Software-Defined Internet of Vehicles (SDIoV).
This workshop is soliciting original technical papers addressing the main research challenges in the Internet of Vehicles and its applications over future Internet.
