Thank you for choosing The Family Cookbook.  

My goal is to provide the best app experience possible.  This is something that I use almost daily, so I want an app that runs smoothly, looks nice, and is fun and easy to use.  To accomplish this, I am committed to keeping this app ad-free.  If there comes a time when this app is costing me money to use Google Cloud Services, I will consider usage or content fees of some kind. 

Data Collection Key Points:

• This app does not collect any personal data or distribute personal data to 3rd parties.  

• This app does not access phone data or functions other than what is required for operation.  

• Identify information is stored on the cloud.  This includes User Name, User ID, and Anonymous User ID.

  1. This is used to link your data within the app and so you are discoverable to other users.

  2. The data isn't used for any other purposes.  

• Any data that goes online is only data that the user chooses to upload.  This includes:

  1. User Name and profile information such as year joined, number of uploaded recipes, and profile pictures.

  2. Individual recipe data including images.

  3. Menu list.

  4. User to user messages.

  5. Group requests.

  6. Group data including member profile data.

• Online data can be viewed by other users of the app, if you grant them permission by joining a group.  Any member of a group can view any other members data.

• Online data can only be accessed from the app, except for the database administrator.

• You can request online profile data to be deleted by emailing vjforsman@gmail.com.

  1. Send and email with your app User Name, year joined, and number of uploaded recipes (found on Settings Page).

  2. I will find your profile, then send an In-App Message to you to confirm that it is the correct account.

  3. Reply 'Yes' to this message, then your profile will be deleted and your app will no longer work properly.

  4. If you no longer have the app, make a note of this in the email.  I will search for conflicting user names and if there are none the account will be deleted.  

     • If there are multiple accounts with the same user name I will reply to your email with more details from the accounts to determine which is yours.

App Permissions:

1.  Network status - when the app opens, it checks internet availability prior to querying data.

2.  Camera \ Gallery - used for taking or uploading photos.

3.  Sharing - app can access messaging, email, or other apps in your share menu.

  1. This is used to link your data with any device you sign in to, and so you are discoverable to other users.

  2. The data isn't used for any other purposes.  

• All data that is saved by the app is uploaded to the cloud.  No data is stored on the device other then cached data.  

• Uploaded data includes:

  1. User Email Address.

  2. User preferences such as color and font selections.

  3. All calendar data including events, schedules, notes and calendar authorized user emails.

• Online data can be viewed by other users of the app, if they are given permission to access the calendar.

• Online data can only be accessed from the app, except for the database administrator.

• You can request online profile data to be deleted by emailing vjforsman@gmail.com.
