Early Diagnosis of Peripartum Diseases in Dairy Cattle
The peripartum period is a critical stage in dairy cows, characterised by major metabolic and physiological changes that increase their susceptibility to disease. Our research focuses on developing innovative, rapid, and reliable diagnostic kits for the early detection of peripartum disorders. By identifying specific biomarkers associated with health alterations, we aim to provide practical, non-invasive, and cost-effective tools for on-farm use. Early detection will enable timely interventions, reducing disease severity and improving animal health and welfare. This project seeks to support more efficient herd management, enhance reproductive and productive performance, reduce economic losses, and contribute to the sustainability of the dairy industry.
