BoatApp ("the app", "we", "us") is a boat maintenance logbook for individual boat owners. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. Core principle: your data stays on your device.
The app does not require an account, login, email address, or registration. Everything you enter — boats, engines, maintenance records, photos, reminders, and expenses — is stored locally on your device.
Boat and engine details you enter (name, type, model, year, HIN, engine hours)

We do not collect this data on our servers — we operate no server and cannot see your data.
When you attach a photo, the app removes GPS location metadata (EXIF) before storing it. Photos remain on your device and are only included in backups or exports that you choose to create.
If you turn on cloud backup, a copy of your data is stored in your own Google Drive, inside a private app-only folder (Google's appDataFolder) that only this app can access. We do not have access to your Google Drive or to this backup. Google stores this data under Google's own privacy terms. You can disconnect at any time from Settings.
The optional Pro subscription is processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details; Google handles all payment information under Google's privacy policy.
Maintenance reminders are generated locally on your device — no push server is involved. You may grant or deny notification permission; reminders still work inside the app if you deny it.
We do not sell your data.
We do not show ads.
We do not use third-party analytics or tracking.
We do not share your data with any third party.
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. "Delete all data" in Settings permanently erases all local data (and, if connected, deletes the backup in your Google Drive). Disconnecting Drive removes the app's access to your backup. You can export your full data (CSV + PDF) at any time.
The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
We may update this policy from time to time; the effective date above reflects the latest version.
