Dr. Jun Xu is currently Director of Energy Mechanics and Sustainability Laboratory (EMSLab). He is also an affiliated faculty member in the Delaware Energy Institute and the Data Science Institute at the University of Delaware. Dr. Xu is a Fellow of ASME, Senior Member at IEEE, and Member at ECS, AAAS and SAE.

Dr. Xu obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University in 2014 (major in Environmental Engineering and Engineering Mechanics).Â

His research expertise sits in the physics-based and data-driven modeling and characterization of battery safety, durability, design and manufacturing. Dr. Xu also has expertise in advanced design and understanding of materials and structures under dynamic loading. So far, Dr. Xu and his students/postdocs have published 170+ peer-reviewed journal papers, with citations of 12,700+, H-index=60 (Google Scholar)
