Book Discussion: How the Word is Passed
Join us for a new Book Discussion Group gathering with Deborah Smith, Executive Director at Jones Memorial Library, and her colleagues with the Lynchburg Public Library. The next book that will be discussed is titled “How the Word is Passed” by Clint Smith. Beginning in his own hometown of New Orleans, he leads the reader through an unforgettable tour of monuments and landmarks - those that are honest about the past and those that are not - that offer an intergenerational story of how slavery has been central in shaping our nation’s collective history, and ourselves.
There will be two of these books available in the Strickler Library on top of the card catalog for you to read while you are in the Library. Please do not remove these books from the Library so all residents can enjoy reading them prior to the book discussion group meeting. You can also check out a copy of this book from the Lynchburg Public Library.
Please sign up at the Activities and Transportation Board located in the lobby by Tuesday, October 17th.

Beware of Phone Scams!
It has come to our attention that residents are receiving phone calls from scammers! When they call you they may say they are calling from your bank, from Medicare, about giving donations, or calling about your credit cards. For instance, if YOU have called your bank and are waiting for a return phone call please ask the caller for their phone number and hang up and YOU call them back. If the caller will not give YOU their phone number hang up immediately. Please never give out your personal information from a source contacting you in this manner.

Employee Christmas Fund Testimonials
Is there ever a day that one or more WC employees doesn't do something for you? Our apartments are cleaned, our lawn and gardens are cared for, our meals are prepared and served, light bulbs are replacedl...the list is endless. How can we thank these folks? Let us suggest a way to say thanks each day. A contribution to the Employees' Christmas Fund can be made once a year, but the method we prefer is to have a portion of the amount of our annual gift added to our monthly bill. This avoids a big payment all at once. If we are extra grateful we can add more at any time. Arrangements for this plan can be made with Melinda Turpin in the Accounting Office at x3513. Your gift to the employees is our way of showing appreciation for their heloping to make "life refreshed" at WC. The employees' appreciation when they receive their gifts at the Employees' Christmas Party is an expression of their thanks to us.
