The Boozes' Testimonial
As residents of Westminster Canterbury we all know we aren’t permitted to tip the employees who make our life here so comfortable and easy going. Nor may we give employees gifts. However, what we can do to thank the hundreds of Westminster Canterbury employees who help us every day is donate generously to the Employee Christmas Fund. Some of the employees are very obvious as we see them serving us in the cafe, James River Grille, and Dogwood Dining Room, cleaning the carpets, keeping the Bridge and public bathrooms clean, cleaning our apartments or cottages, helping us at the front desk, assisting us in the Clinic, keeping the grounds looking beautiful, caring for us or our loved ones in Rehab, assisting old friends in Assisted Living or Healthcare. Some we never see as they toil away in the kitchens preparing our meals, sitting at their desks working diligently to keep our accounts straight, finding new employees to keep Westminster Canterbury running smoothly, repairing things that are broken, renovating apartments and cottages for new residents.
If you think back to before you moved to Westminster Canterbury and how much you tipped those who served you, whether in a restaurant, a beauty or barber shop, or someone who cleaned your house, cut your lawn, cared for your landscaping, bellhops who carried your bags or drivers (taxis, Uber, Lyft) who took you somewhere, then the recommended amount of $2.50 per day per resident is a bargain. Only non-administrative staff receive a check from the Employee Christmas Fund and they number over 350. Please give generously as our employee friends appreciate it. You can give at anytime up to the first week of December. You can donate monthly and simply have it added to your monthly statement. In the last few years, the Fund has reached an average of over $200,000. Let’s match that or even exceed it this year!

Ann Richards Testimonial
The Employee Christmas Fund expresses residents' gratitude for the many blessings we receive from our staff. Here is my testimonial describing the happy solutions from staff for the following incidents:
A wiring fire in my stove oven at 4:00 PM on a Friday afternoon. The stove was replaced within an hour. Family was arriving shortly for a holiday dinner!
A favorite gold earring disappeared after rolling into the bathroom sink drain. It could not be seen. Retrieved soon after the call went in for help.
A masterful touch up on the wear spots on our 17 year old paint before a 65th reunion dinner for classmates.
Years ago we arranged for a monthly deduction to support the annual Employee Christmas Fund. A check is given to non-supervisory staff members at the annual Christmas party provided by residents. If you are interested in a monthly draw or need more information, please call Melinda Turpin (X3513) in accounting.
I am thankful for all of our dedicated employees!
